Impact

The Past Month

Our busiest time of year has now passed, each October many organizations have fundraiser events to help prepare financially for the new year and to share about their past year of ministry. This October we assisted eight of our ministry partners with planning their fall events plus we had an event of our own.

October 2013 marked five years of ministry for Perception Funding and $1,081,642 raised for our ministry partners.  So we celebrated by hosting a dinner for our supporters and sharing how God has used us to impact great missions across the world. One of our favorite stats from our first - five years is, for every $1.00 given to our Perception Funding operating budget we in turn raise $6.19 for our ministry partners.

Impact Story

From our Ministry Partner: giveDIGNITY

Perception Funding has worked with Seth & Andrea Sears, the missionaries who started giveDIGNITY since October 2008.
Their ministry is located in San Jose, Costa Rica and it's purpose is to restore the dignity of those living in marginalized communities through initiatives that support employment, education and prevention of abuse and human trafficking. Below is an update about their jobs training program.

Yahoska was the first person to call Seth (the director of giveDIGNITY) and inquire about our jobs skill training class (Job For Life) back in May when we began recruiting. She was also one of the most faithful students, with perfect attendance. Hard work pays off. Yahoska got a job last week! She commented on how well-prepared she felt for the interview and also how interested and positive the interviewer was about the JFL preparation.
We're also grateful for the six other students who graduated from our Jobs For Life class last month. They're an inspiration as they continue to overcome emotional, physical and educational obstacles to find the dignity of work. As mentioned above, Yahoska is now working and the rest of the class continues to make progress on their goals toward meaningful employment, through further education and training. Another of of those goal milestones began last week when we met to begin a new class, called Buen Sentido (Good Sense) that is a financial stewardship training program. "I get paid and three days later, the money's gone and I don't know what happened," is a common refrain. We're excited to continue this journey with these recent grads (and a couple newcomers) and encourage and equip them in a new practical area using another Bible-based curriculum.

Prayer

Year-end giving & new staff partner

The last quarter of the year is historically when 40% of donations come in for non-profits. Please be praying for our ministry as we work with our ministry partners and on our very own year-end giving campaign.
Especially since we are hoping and planning to raise enough to hire a new full-time staff partner in the beginning of 2014.
