FUND RAISING... For the past five-month we have been partnering with a Christian counseling service called Wellspring Ministries. During our time together we helped them plan their first ever fund raising event and have begun to put together a fund raising strategy for the rest of the year.  On March 24 we held the Humor, Hope & Healing Comedy Night. This was the first comedy night we have been involved in and it was a great success raising over $10,000. Plus a lot of new people are excited about helping make Wellsprings a continued success. The Listen Project... Thank you for your prayers and support of our recent trip to Costa Rica. On March 5-15 we went there to work along side and to serve our ministry partners (the Sears family) with Christ for the City International, in the La Carpio slum. While there we: -Started a program where kids could trade one bag of trash for a pair of shoes. We gave away 200 pairs of shoes in 2 days that were donated to us in Kansas City. -Our 2 nurses on the trip spent 2 days in the medical clinic. -We cooked lunch everyday we were in the slum for an average of 25-75 kids a day, because the kids typically only eat once a day.  -Completed lots of painting projects. -Built a 1/4 pipe. (skate ramp) -Repaired lots of huge nets so balls and kids wouldn't fall off the cliff. -Repaired damage from a mud slide and dug a ditch to prevent future mud slides. -Cleaned the mission base. -Taught jewelry making class. -Shared our faith with kids and their volunteer leaders. -Took the Sears Family to beach and had a great time encouraging them in their work.
