For the last year we have been working hard to update our transparency standards here at Perception Funding. We recognize the importance of being transparent with our donors, both for the sake of healthful integrity on our part, and peace of mind for you. We also have a responsibility to be an example of transparency for all of our Ministry Partners and their supporters as well. This has been a big undertaking for us, and has resulted in good growth and new creativity in communication for us - it's been fun!
In that light, we are happy to announce that we have recently completed our 2019 Annual Report and have added it to our website.
We are excited to share this with all our supporters! We hope you enjoy this snapshot of our work, and are open to any questions or comments you have!
Thank you for the way you support us: your prayer, volunteerism, and financial support make all of this possible. We are thankful for you, and couldn't dream up a better group of supporters!
So you love a missionary... Thoughts on loving well across the miles.
With 76 ministry partners in cities, towns, and villages all across the globe, we know a little something about how to keep up long term relationships! This comes naturally for some of us and takes a little more work for others. Either way, a little bit of intentionality can go a long way, this doesn't have to be rocket science! Here are a few tips for sharing your heart with someone far away.
- Written Encouragement - Many locations across the globe have inconsistent mail delivery options, so letters aren't always an option. But email or Facebook messenger certainly are! Don't know what to say? Include a verse you've been memorizing, a short prayer of encouragement for them and their ministry, or one of your favorite memories of them. Allow this to be a time of focusing on them and loving them by giving them your full attention. Ask them specific questions about their ministry, the health of their spouse or child, or how you can pray for them this week.
- Small Personal Touches - If you take 5 minutes to write a note of encouragement to your loved one, consider attaching a photo of you or your family holding a handmade sign that says "we love you!" or a few different photos of your kids in their natural element. Invite your loved one into your day to day life by including photos of your garden, new office, or a puzzle you've finished up lately. Or take a short 1-2 minute video of your smiling face telling them what you're up to and how much you love them! These small extra efforts really add up!
-Take Notes - Did your loved one mention that they have been missing snickers bars because they can't get them where they live? Did they mention that they ruined their favorite pair of socks or that their journals always run out before they get back to the states to buy a new one? Keep a running list in your notes app on your phone. Then, next time they are home, have a small gift bag ready for them including those items! You won't have to wonder what to include, because you're a superhero friend who made notes over the last 18 months of communication, and you already know!
(Pro Tip: If you don't live near where they will be staying when they travel back to the states, find out who they will be staying with and send the package to their home. This isn't complicated, but it does take a little planning and intentionality.)
-Be a Grace Giver - sometimes the best way to love through the miles is to say "I love you even when you're busy." Many times communication doesn't come naturally to the missionaries serving overseas. Or they are so swamped on their visits home trying to please everyone who wants a piece of their time, that you choosing to not add to the noise may be the best way to love them. If they can't fit you in, tell them you aren't offended and you will see them next time. When you give grace, you become a soft spot to land. This breeds loyalty and trust. Give the gift of space and grace!
- Make a Commitment - One person we know Skype's with nieces across the ocean once a week to read a chapter book aloud. She reads for a little bit and then asks them about their week. This doesn't take long, but it keeps up relationships AND gives her sister a window of time to get other things done around the house without kids under her feet. One supporter has spent time praying at a specific time each week for a family of missionaries in another country. It doesn't have to be a big-time commitment, but when you commit yourself to your loved one in these ways, it provides a sense of solidarity and true camaraderie.

Meals and Community
Many of our Ministry Partners are finding new and creative ways to encourage and serve in their communities. Read on to learn about some of the amazing ministries you support when you give to Perception Funding!
giveDIGNITY - Located in the La Carpio, Costa Rica, these ministry partners have worked tirelessly for the last 11 years to provide their community with the tools they need to elevate their social status. Their focus has always been on teaching men to fish, versus handing out fish. But Covid-19 has required a near 180 in this philosophy, and ,unsurprisingly, they have embraced the need for flexibility and are placing the needs of their community above their ideals. They have been working hard to provide meals for 60 families in their communities, while also continuing tutoring for the students that comprise so much of their day to day ministry, albeit virtually.
Living Mission Peru - Located in Peru, the country has been on lockdown for 90 days with no end in sight - children have not been even allowed to be outside for all of that time! Can you imagine! LMP has been able to provide food and vital medicines on a regular basis for over 70 desperate families in their community. We are amazed at all they are managing to do during this isolation, all while they have two small children of their own that they have had to find new ways to occupy and comfort in this difficult time.
Bloom International - A ministry focused on bringing the love of Jesus to refugee women in Thailand, they were quick to recognize that in order to hear the gospel, their community first needed to be fed. They began an initiative called Rice for Widows; for just $7 supporters can provide rice for one woman for an entire month. What a fantastic outreach! To date they have provided over 2640 lbs of rice!
New Life School and GOT Ministries - Located in Guatemala, the focus of GOT is to provide Occupational Therapy for the underprivileged children who would otherwise have no options, New Life School is the school they partner with to provide these invaluable services. Their access to students has been very limited, but one way they have found to continue to support the families they work with is to provide meals to them. Their flexibility and ability to see the positive side of this hard situation is inspiring and we are so proud of thier work.
Faith Missions - serving communities in Rwanda and Uganda, they have ached to watch so many of the communities they serve become destitute due to a very real lack of food. This is primarily a political issue as borders have been closed all around them to prevent any spread of Covid-19. This prevents access to markets and basic resources, as well as preventing many from working. Though usually a ministry that is very intentional in providing financial support for schools and other ministries run by local citizens, the ministry has taken careful measures to listen to their contacts, and has reallocated thousands of dollars in funds to help the schools and ministries to feed the families to whom they usually provide education. Watching them pivot and allow new priorities to take precedence has been very encouraging.
En Gedi Grove - working and living in an impoverished urban neighborhood in Kansas City, this family has been working faithfully to provide meals, haircuts, counseling, and a safe space for a community that has been severely impacted by Covid-19 - especially for the children who were removed from the relative safety and shelter of their schools. Though always startlingly flexible, as is required for their unique ministry, we know that this has required a lot of intentionality and generosity of their family.
Please pray for our ministry partners on lockdown who continue to love and meet the needs of those they serve.
Thanks, Prayer & Praise
Our staff and missionaries around the world are so encouraged by you! Your faithful and continued support is such a huge blessing during these trying times. We know that many of you are facing the same struggles we are and so your support both in prayer and financial giving is a continual reminder that we are in this mission together!
So thank you so much!! More than ever we couldn’t do our work without you.
Please reach out if there is something we can be praying for or if there’s something we can help you with.
Please pray for our ministry partners on lockdown who continue to love and meet the needs of those they serve.
Now more than ever, we are called upon to make a difference for our ministry partners. Help support our ministry partners on #GivingTuesdayNow! Prayer & Praise
We want to start this month's impact update by
pointing us back to the feet of our Savior Please be lifting up the following prayer requests:
1. The health of our ministry partners, both locally and internationally.
2. Practical Ideas for our Ministry Partners. Our relationships were never meant to be so distant. Even Jesus himself was in the center of the crowds. Social distancing has created innumerable challenges for our Ministry Partner's work.
3. Although there are many challenges there are many opportunities to get to know neighbors and serve and minister to people remotely. Pray for these opportunities as people around the world seem more open to having spiritual conversations.
4. Pray for finances! God has always provided for our work and we continue to trust Him - when everyone is staying at home it begins to get a little concerning :)
We are praising the Lord for the way He is providing through the faithful support from all of you! Thank you for continuing to give generously and for the notes of encouragement and friendship. We appreciate you all. Finally, we want to be supportive to you, too! How can we be praying for you? Do you have concerns weighing heavily on you during this time? Always feel free to drop us a note and let us know how we can be loving you best through prayer.

Fueling Help is our newest project that our ministry partner, Sarah Rey had been tossing around in her head for weeks and so we helped bring it to life! As Covid-19 affects the financial stability of so many across the globe, it is especially daunting to those who are already so severely in need. We know that the support our Ministry Partners provide to their communities is invaluable, often bridging the gap of life and death and between abuse and safety.
As a way to support them through this tumultuous time we have started Fueling Help.

We want to keep our friends and supporters up to date on the impact that the Coronavirus is having our ministry, but we want to do it in a way that speaks the truth. And the truth is this:
Jesus is already Lord over every circumstance. He is fully in control. He is unafraid.
However, though we are unafraid, we also recognize a need for strong leadership and wisdom, for our international ministry partners especially.
So, how is our ministry being impacted?
Living Missions Peru - our longtime partners in Peru fund their year round, full time ministry work with sustainable missions trips that they host from spring through late summer. They are already having to consider the possiblity of not only canceling their first few missions trips, but also realizing they may have an entire season where missions trips are unable to come down to do their work. Please be praying for them as they consider how to communicate clearly, and for generous hearts in the churches who planned to come. If they cannot host missions trips, their ministry will be severely impacted due to lack of funds.
Acts 1347 - our ministry partners in Italy, who specifically work with Chinese immigrants, are facing entire towns around them being shut down. May they see how to best serve their communities. They are specifically praying for a spiritual awakening around them, that people might fully realize how, apart from the hope of Jesus, they are lost and wandering, like sheep.
Missionaries in Asia - we have several families who work in various parts of Asia who have come home to ride out the storm. One family in particular, whose son has severe asthma, was able to fly home on one of the last flights before the airport in their city was shut down. Pray for peace as they watch the reports coming in about regions they care deeply about.
Faith Missions - one of our partners who lives in Uganda planned to visit Kansas City for the month of April for several speaking and fundraising engagements. We are currently deciding whether his visit needs to be postponed. Not only is his health a concern, as his flights will travel through several countries, but if he were to get stuck here in the US if all international travel were to get shut down, it would be a huge impact on his ministry work in Uganda.
Wanna go a step further? Our ministry partners are listed on our Projects page on givetransform.org. If every subscriber prayed for each of the ministry partners listed one time, spending less than 5 minutes in protective prayer, they would have been covered in almost 20 hours of prayer in the month of March!

Our staff has been in deep conversation over the last few months, discussing how to best support ministry partners who are fighting some very heavy spiritual warfare.
In the last year we have made great strides toward refocusing our team on our Redeemer. Jesus is our Hope and our Anchor. Our staff prays together anytime there are two or more in the office, we have had the great delight of watching Joe, our Pastoral Care staff member, create meaningful connections with our ministry partners all over the world.
And never before have we seen so much heartache in our collective organization. So we are inviting you to pray with us; to lift up our brothers and sisters across the globe.
Several partners are going through the battle of a lifetime to restore their marriages.
Christ Jesus, have mercy.
Several partners have returned stateside from Asian locations due to political unrest and concern over contagions - many unsure when, if ever, they will be able to return to the homes they have loved.
Christ Jesus, have mercy
Many partners are realizing fractures in their local partnerships, and though they ache for redemption and restoration, they wrestle with the reality that it may not come this side of eternity.
Christ Jesus, have mercy.
Through all of this, we see an invitation to turn to Jesus, to confess our need for his redemption and protection. We covet your prayers as we spend countless hours caring for these partners' spiritual and physical needs, and we know our ministry partners are also humbly asking for prayer. Please pray for energy, for wisdom, for humility, and for teachable spirits, both for us and our partners.

2019 was an amazing year! All together we raised $2,034,293 for the mission of Perception Funding and our Ministry Partners. This means that all together we have raised over $8.6 million since we began! It has been a blessing to see the Lord work in so many ministries and to see their impact in the lives of people all over the world. We have some exciting new ways in which we will be caring for our Ministry Partners in 2020 and beyond. So we'll be sharing these with you over the next couple of months.
Our thankfulness and gratitude is truly indescribable! Our staff and ministry partners are incredibly appreciative of your support! Thank you for continuing to partner with us in prayer and through your financial gifts.
I often think that people don’t realize how much their gifts truly matter. For instance, a lot of people have automatic giving from their bank account, which we love, but it may create a disconnect between them and the mission.
Some may think that their $50 a month can’t have an eternal impact. But it can! and IT DOES! I want you to know that you are essential, important and a needed part of Perception Funding! All our supporters’ gifts combined are impacting the Kingdom of God!
Here are a few impactful stories to share from this year:
In Thailand our ministry partners had their women’s conference for the third year in a row for refugees and folks living in closed countries. The previous two years they had 100 women attend and this year 400 women attended. Many of them shared stories of what God is doing in their villages.
In Guatemala our ministry partners have been working with special needs kids and their families in partnership with a Christian school. The school has a long history of success and is trusted in the community. It was a huge encouragement and opportunity when the school asked our ministry partners to take ownership of the entire school and manage it moving forward.
On the “home base” (operational side of things), we hired two new full-time staff this year. Stephanie Faulkner, our Financial Operations Coordinator, has been a huge gift as she has 10 years of corporate banking experience and more recently went to seminary to get her master’s degree. As we continue to raise more and more funds for amazing ministries, it is such a gift to have Stephanie’s experience and know how to get tasks completed in an above reproach manner.
Our second new staff member is Bob Vickers, our Director of Education. He has 35 years of fundraising experience. He has his PHD and over 20,000 pages of materials he’s written on hundreds of different nonprofit topics. We’re utilizing his skills by hosting monthly fundraising workshops and we built “The Partnership Network,” an online educational platform where people can take e-courses, receive assistance and work together to learn and encourage one another. Bob is a wealth of information and has brought our knowledge base to a whole new level.
God is at work and I hope these few stories from this year show how your gifts matter and bless others around the world. Stories like these are important as they remind us that the Lord is at work in the lives of those around us and he uses our resources and gifts so that others may know Him. We’d like to share more stories of our mission with you! Please take a few minutes and visit Our Storiespage to hear from several of our ministry partners that we are delighted to serve alongside!
We are pleased to introduce The Partnership Network!
In the last decade, the demand for more easily accessible content has forced us to reevaluate how to best serve our ministry partners. We've had requests for a way to guide and educate our partners halfway around the globe, and for a way to impact their lives with a practical, affordable approach. Add the challenge of coaching hundreds of people in different time zones, and we knew it was going to take some intentionality and a gear shift.
It was time to evolve!
We have begun the lengthy process of updating all of our fundraising and educational content. Our staff has spent the last three and a half months building The Partnership Network online educational platform for current and new ministry partners! Through educational videos, interactive questions, and downloadable resources and sample materials, this new platform will allow both new and established ministry partners to learn from our experience in a personable and practical way.

YEAR-END - a challenge for you Between now and the end of the year 40% of annual giving will take place. Our desire, though, is for supporters to not just be dollar signs to our ministry partners, but a real part of the ministry's team. We all have gifts and skills that can positively impact on the mission of the organization we support.
In this season of giving, we'd like to challenge you to support the ministry's you care about in additional ways.
Please do give generously if you can, but if you would like to do more, chances are good that there are new ways you can contribute with your specific gifts and skills. We know from experience that any ministry will be incredibly encouraged if you were to ask how else you can get involved, or if you simply send them an encouraging note!
Prayer & Praise- Joy Klee is in her final days of pregnancy with their 3rd baby. Please be praying for health for mama and baby, and for lots of energy for Joy as she cares lovingly for her big boys, Charlie 7, and Fallon 4.
- Pray for our year-end giving work with our ministry partners. This is a busy time as we're editing letters, creating brand new material for our ministry partners, building and updating websites, and communicating with supporters.
