Perception Funding's Impact over the last month!
Lights! Camera! Action!
Jonathan Klee - what a guy! He's been honing his videography skills by shooting virtual fundraiser videos over the last year. The quality is so good, and the way he is able to coach people in to sharing their stories in a relatable and authentic way speaks to his own relatability and authenticity. Here you see him recording the fundraiser for Isaac's Dream. Keep reading to learn about this exciting new ministry partner!
Isaac's Dream

The roots of Isaac’s Dream were first planted when a group of medical professionals went on a medical mission trip to Ghana, Africa in the summer of 2016. One of the young men who was part of the group in Ghana that assisted the medical team was Isaac Ayensu.

Isaac has a dream to come to the United States to study photography and videography, but he also has another dream – to give the children of Ghana something he was once given, a chance. Isaac never knew his father and was orphaned at the age of eight when his mother died, forcing him to live on the streets and fight for the basic needs in life: food, clothing and shelter.

After a few years of homeless life, a family took Isaac in, where not only his primary needs were met, but he also received an education. This unselfish act of love has taken a hold of Isaac. He would like to gain his education in the States and then return to Ghana to give back to his community, working with Isaac’s Dream full time.

Although Isaac’s visa was denied a few times, he was still able to pursue his education in Ghana. This was the first step of Isaac’s Dream, but through other experiences, Robyn and Joe were determined to dream bigger. When they discovered this village where Robyn had treated numerous people, where they never had a school they, felt the need to raise funds and build a school in this precious community.

Isaac’s Dream will provide educational needs to those with no options, breaking the cycle of lost childhoods and giving hope for generations to come.

He is a much needed addition to our team!

So, how is Bo doing?
Thank you so much to all of you who have reached out this month to check in our our employee and friend, Bo Tunberg. If you missed it, Bo was in a terrible ski accident last month - he was found unconscious and with many broken bones and other injuries. He lives in Kansas City with his wife, Mika, and two very young sons, but the accident occurred in Colorado.
Bo has spent that last 3 weeks in the ICU. His doctors were very hesitant to give any sort of prognosis at first, but he has blown us all away with his speedy progress. He is fully awake, sitting up, discussing Star Wars, and Facetiming with his family.
Mika has been in Colorado with him, and the grandparents have stepped up and joyfully served the family by keeping the boys here at home, but as you can imagine, that has been difficult on all of them.
Please pray for continued physical and neurological healing for Bo, for energy, joy, balance, and hope for Mika, and for energy for the grandparents.

Pray for Bo!
Please join us in praying for our part-time staff member Bo Tunberg. Bo has worked as a videographer for Perception Funding for over four years making beautiful videos for us and our ministry partners.
On Wednesday, February 3rd Bobby was involved in a serious ski accident. After being separated from his friends he was found unconscious and transported by ski patrol to the nearest facility to receive critical treatment. He has since been stabilized and transported to Denver. He’s suffered a few different injuries, the most serious of which being brain trauma, a collapsed lung and rib, and clavicle injuries. Doctors are currently completing tests to clarify what the long term prognosis looks like. As of now, Bo is scheduled for surgery on Saturday, February 13th. Additionally, please be praying for Bo's wife, Mika, and their two little boys Enok and Ollie.
Colossians 4:2
"Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving."

Ministry Snapshots
Our Financial Operations Coordinator is working diligently to finalize the numbers on all the donations made for Perception Funding and our Ministry Partners for the month of December.

Did you know we have 81 ministry partners all over the globe who rely on our services to run their ministries?! That's a LOT of donations!!

However, looking at preliminary numbers, we are already amazed and encouraged - the generosity demonstrated in our community and the communities of our Ministry Partners is truly inspiring. One example of unspeakable generosity: a ministry partner was $16,000 away from meeting a fundraising goal, until one donor stepped up to meet the entire need! Another Ministry Partner has been amazed to watch donations continue to come in for education scholarships, knowing that so many of their supporters here in the States are struggling through their own difficult year of lockdowns and education challenges.

The big donations are always so fun to watch roll in, but the true story here is the faithfulness of thousands of donors all over our country who have chosen to give freely in the most tumultuous years we've experienced in our lifetime.

We are thankful, but not surprised. This year has been the perfect example of Psalm 50:10 "For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills."
We are constantly reminded of God's goodness to us, but this year has been a really wonderful display of God's steadiness and faithfulness.

Thank you for being on our team - for your own faithfulness and generosity; not just financially but in all areas. Your faithfulness in prayer, encouragement, and in friendship with our staff is really encouraging. We stand as witnesses of the goodness of God's people.
To see your financial donations at work, take a peak at our giving platform, where we have links to each of Ministry Partners. You'll see over 80 organizations representing nearly 40 countries across the globe who are spreading the love and hope of our Lord and Savior. What a testament to His Great Love For Us.

Ministry Snapshots
NOVEMBER 2020

It's that time of year again! The last quarter of the year always proves to be one of our busiest and most demanding seasons. With over 80 ministry partners, we are busier than ever! This is joyous, as we are thrilled to be growing as an organization in a way that reflects the many ways that God cares and provides for his children all over the globe. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing some stories from our ministry partners in an effort to display the beautiful work in which you are participating when you support Perception Funding.

Hope Albania

Our ministry partners in Peshkopi have been walking a unique road, learning to balance their desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus with a community that is slow to trust and accept new relationships. Throw is a language barrier, and you have a hard row to hoe!
But through faithfulness, patience, and true friendship, they have been pleased to grow real relationships in the community. They are currently investing their time and love into a local family that has dreams of opening a chicken company! They have recognized a need for encouragement in the couple, and are using their own wisdom and skill set to help them develop plans for their success. They are walking with them in their journey, the same way Jesus does for all of us.

On Eagle's Wings
Located in Kansas City, this ministry's focus is on restoring and redeeming broken   families and children on a farm whose purpose will be to offer a safe space for foster/ at-risk children and their families. We've been amazed at the grit and grace of the family that is behind this organization and are proud to partner with them! They have planned a large fundraising gala for this November, but due to COVID19 have switched gears and will now be hosting the event online. We have helped them create a very interactive and engaging event, and are hopeful that it will be a great success! To learn more about the gala, or how to get involved with this ministry, visit - https://www.oneagleswingsfarm.org/gala.

For the last year we have been working hard to update our transparency standards here at Perception Funding. We recognize the importance of being transparent with our donors, both for the sake of healthful integrity on our part, and peace of mind for you. We also have a responsibility to be an example of transparency for all of our Ministry Partners and their supporters as well. This has been a big undertaking for us, and has resulted in good growth and new creativity in communication for us - it's been fun!
In that light, we are happy to announce that we have recently completed our 2019 Annual Report and have added it to our website.
We are excited to share this with all our supporters! We hope you enjoy this snapshot of our work, and are open to any questions or comments you have!
Thank you for the way you support us: your prayer, volunteerism, and financial support make all of this possible. We are thankful for you, and couldn't dream up a better group of supporters!

So you love a missionary...
Thoughts on loving well across the miles.

With 76 ministry partners in cities, towns, and villages all across the globe, we know a little something about how to keep up long term relationships! This comes naturally for some of us and takes a little more work for others. Either way, a little bit of intentionality can go a long way, this doesn't have to be rocket science! Here are a few tips for sharing your heart with someone far away.

- Written Encouragement - Many locations across the globe have inconsistent mail delivery options, so letters aren't always an option. But email or Facebook messenger certainly are! Don't know what to say? Include a verse you've been memorizing, a short prayer of encouragement for them and their ministry, or one of your favorite memories of them. Allow this to be a time of focusing on them and loving them by giving them your full attention. Ask them specific questions about their ministry, the health of their spouse or child, or how you can pray for them this week.

- Small Personal Touches - If you take 5 minutes to write a note of encouragement to your loved one, consider attaching a photo of you or your family holding a handmade sign that says "we love you!" or a few different photos of your kids in their natural element. Invite your loved one into your day to day life by including photos of your garden, new office, or a puzzle you've finished up lately. Or take a short 1-2 minute video of your smiling face telling them what you're up to and how much you love them! These small extra efforts really add up!

-Take Notes - Did your loved one mention that they have been missing snickers bars because they can't get them where they live? Did they mention that they ruined their favorite pair of socks or that their journals always run out before they get back to the states to buy a new one? Keep a running list in your notes app on your phone. Then, next time they are home, have a small gift bag ready for them including those items! You won't have to wonder what to include, because you're a superhero friend who made notes over the last 18 months of communication, and you already know!
(Pro Tip: If you don't live near where they will be staying when they travel back to the states, find out who they will be staying with and send the package to their home. This isn't complicated, but it does take a little planning and intentionality.)

-Be a Grace Giver - sometimes the best way to love through the miles is to say "I love you even when you're busy." Many times communication doesn't come naturally to the missionaries serving overseas. Or they are so swamped on their visits home trying to please everyone who wants a piece of their time, that you choosing to not add to the noise may be the best way to love them. If they can't fit you in, tell them you aren't offended and you will see them next time. When you give grace, you become a soft spot to land. This breeds loyalty and trust. Give the gift of space and grace!

- Make a Commitment - One person we know Skype's with nieces across the ocean once a week to read a chapter book aloud. She reads for a little bit and then asks them about their week. This doesn't take long, but it keeps up relationships AND gives her sister a window of time to get other things done around the house without kids under her feet. One supporter has spent time praying at a specific time each week for a family of missionaries in another country. It doesn't have to be a big-time commitment, but when you commit yourself to your loved one in these ways, it provides a sense of solidarity and true camaraderie.

Do you have more tactics you employ to show your love across the miles? We would love to hear your thoughts! Click below to share your ideas!

Providing Hope:
Meals and Community

Many of our Ministry Partners are finding new and creative ways to encourage and serve in their communities. Read on to learn about  some of the amazing ministries you support when you give to Perception Funding!
giveDIGNITY - Located in the La Carpio, Costa Rica, these ministry partners have worked tirelessly for the last 11 years to provide their community with the tools they need to elevate their social status. Their focus has always been on teaching men to fish, versus handing out fish. But Covid-19 has required a near 180 in this philosophy, and ,unsurprisingly, they have embraced the need for flexibility and are placing the needs of their community above their ideals. They have been working hard to provide meals for 60 families in their communities, while also continuing tutoring for the students that comprise so much of their day to day ministry, albeit virtually.

Living Mission Peru - Located in Peru, the country has been on lockdown for 90 days with no end in sight - children have not been even allowed to be outside for all of that time! Can you imagine! LMP has been able to provide food and vital medicines on a regular basis for over 70 desperate families in their community. We are amazed at all they are managing to do during this isolation, all while they have two small children of their own that they have had to find new ways to occupy and comfort in this difficult time.

Bloom International - A ministry focused on bringing the love of Jesus to refugee women in Thailand, they were quick to recognize that in order to hear the gospel, their community first needed to be fed. They began an initiative called Rice for Widows; for just $7 supporters can provide rice for one woman for an entire month. What a fantastic outreach! To date they have provided over 2640 lbs of rice!

New Life School and GOT Ministries - Located in Guatemala, the focus of GOT is to provide Occupational Therapy for the underprivileged children who would otherwise have no options, New Life School is the school they partner with to provide these invaluable services. Their access to students has been very limited, but one way they have found to continue to support the families they work with is to provide meals to them. Their flexibility and ability to see the positive side of this hard situation is inspiring and we are so proud of thier work.

Faith Missions - serving communities in Rwanda and Uganda, they have ached to watch so many of the communities they serve become destitute due to a very real lack of food. This is primarily a political issue as borders have been closed all around them to prevent any spread of Covid-19. This prevents access to markets and basic resources, as well as preventing many from working. Though usually a ministry that is very intentional in providing financial support for schools and other ministries run by local citizens, the ministry has taken careful measures to listen to their contacts, and has reallocated thousands of dollars in funds to help the schools and ministries to feed the families to whom they usually provide education. Watching them pivot and allow new priorities to take precedence has been very encouraging.

En Gedi Grove - working and living in an impoverished urban neighborhood in Kansas City, this family has been working faithfully to provide meals, haircuts, counseling, and a safe space for a community that has been severely impacted by Covid-19 - especially for the children who were removed from the relative safety and shelter of their schools. Though always startlingly flexible, as is required for their unique ministry, we know that this has required a lot of intentionality and generosity of their family.

Please pray for our ministry partners on lockdown who continue to love and meet the needs of those they serve.
