On May 22, 2011 an EF5 tornado 1 mile-wide destroyed 2/3’s of Joplin, MO. Since it is only two hours from our office in Kansas City we have spent the summer connecting with a family that we can assist and invest in long term. The family that we are adopting is Brad & Melissa Campbell their son Jerrod 10 and Abby 6. The Campbell’s lost everything in the tornado and they did not have renters insurance.

On January 12, 2010 a 7.0 earthquake struck near the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince. An estimated 230,000 died and over 1,000,000 made homeless. By many standards, Haiti was already the poorest country in the Americas. This earthquake woke the world up to this reality.

Haiti is a mere 600 miles from the coast of Florida. What is our response to this neighbor of ours?

In February of 2010, Perception Funding led a group of 13 to Port-au-Prince to manage and work in the Haitian Community Village.

In September of 2010, we partnered with The Global Orphan Project, to establish relationships at Orphanges in Gonaives, Haiti. We spent time with the orphans, helping with their church, working on their facilities & playing. We also begun exploring avenues to develop businesses/projects to fund the orphanages.

Our theme in all of this has been to “hurry up and wait”, because nothing gets done quickly but everyone is in a big rush.

Finally!!! Because of your prayers and financial generosity we have give $10,000 to The Global Orphan Project in order to help build five girls homes, latrines/showers and a security wall at the Saintilus Orphan Village.  8/15/11
