The listen Project: a project in compassion
LINKS
We recently returned from a Listen Project trip where we worked along side our ministry partner, Christ For the City International in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Christ for the City International has been impacting lives in La Carpio (which is in San Jose, Costa Rica) for over 40 years. La Carpio is a slum of 45,000 people, the average family of five makes less than $1.50 a day. CFCI currently has a medical clinic which is known as the local hospital and a school. The school teaches basic education, plus life skills (wood shop, cooking, jewelry making, & computer classes) with the hope that kids will learn a trade and be able to support their own family some day. The primary purpose of CFCI is to address the peoples needs and build relationships in order to share the gospel with them.
Read one of our team members accounts of the trip. by Libby Mills.
The Listen project creates opportunities for accompaniment and friendship with the poor. Incorporating the stories of the poor and oppressed, the Listen project develops resources to guide those who choose to listen into a path of compassion. Resources include, but not be limited to, books, documentaries, Bible studies, volunteer opportunities, and the leading of immersion trips.
We want to get more involved with the community directly around us. So, for 2012 We will be reaching out to families who live in the neighborhoods surrounding our office, which is located on Main St. in Belton, MO.
Please let us know if you are interested in joining us this month or next on a service project. info@perceptionfunding.org
